As per public media sources,, In response to the intense global competition in the automotive market, XPeng Motors plans to recruit 4000 new employees in 2024 and invest hundreds of millions of dollars in artificial intelligence technology.

According to the latest employee data at the end of 2022, XPeng Motors had 15,829 employees. This hiring initiative will expand the total number of employees by 25%.

The company's CEO, He Xiaopeng, stated in a recent letter to employees that the company plans to invest a total of CNY 3.5 billion (USD 500 million) in research and development of artificial intelligence technology, with a focus on "smart driving," intending to release approximately 30 new products or updated models within three years.

He Xiaopeng believes, "Faced with the pessimistic macroeconomic situation, many business partners have retreated and dared not invest. I think this is an opportunity for our development." He himself also holds an optimistic attitude towards the company's development in 2024, stating, "In 2024, we will rise against the trend and enter a high-speed positive cycle in the fourth quarter or even earlier."

XPeng Motors currently has a driver assistance system called Xpilot, enabling its vehicles to perform certain functions semi-autonomously.

He Xiaopeng also revealed that this year, in the CNY 300,000+ and 150,000+ price ranges, XPeng will release its first models, completing its product layout in the 100,000-400,000 price range.

Combining previously known information, it is not difficult to speculate that the first model in the 150,000+ price range will probably be the MONA brand model that XPeng collaborates with Didi on. According to the plan, XPeng intends to redefine this model through new technologies such as advanced intelligent driving and FOTA architecture, initially targeting the consumer market and then supplying the B2B ride-hailing market.

This is a very challenging endeavor. Two years ago, He Xiaopeng said, "It's not possible to make a good smart car for less than 150,000." Now, He Xiaopeng is personally breaking his own prophecy.
