Chery's low-price car brand Jetour has officially entered the Indonesian car market. Its parent company Jetour Motor Indonesia was just established in February this year. Sales of two SUV models are expected to begin in July, marking the Jetour's first appearance in the Indonesian market.
The Jetour model launch will be held at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) on July 18, 2024. At that time, the official price of Dashing and X70 Plus will be announced, which is expected to be less than 500 million Indonesian rupiah (approximately RMB 230,737). The two SUV models will be produced in complete knock-down form (CKD) by Jetour and local partner Handal Motor Indonesia.
The origin of Chery's Jetour brand can be traced back to January 22, 2018, and by April 2023, its global sales have reached 700,000 units, showing impressive growth momentum. Before entering the Indonesian market, Jetour had already launched sales operations in many countries such as Myanmar, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Chile, Ecuador and Paraguay.
Unlike other Chinese brands that focus on electric vehicles in the Indonesian market, Jetour will launch two traditional SUV models based on 1500cc turbo gasoline engines, namely Dashing and X70 Plus. The entry of Jetour marks a further intensification of competition in the Indonesian automobile market, and also provides local consumers with more diverse choices.
