EqualOcean has reported that Beijing GalaxyBot Co., Ltd. (referred to as "GalaxyBot") recently announced the completion of a 700 million yuan angel round financing within just one year of its establishment. The investment was led by top strategic and industrial investors, including Meituan Dianping Strategic Investment, BAIC Investment, SenseTime Guoxiang Fund, and iFlytek Fund. Leading financial institutions such as Qiming Venture Partners, BlueRun Ventures, Matrix Partners China, Source Code Capital, and IDG Capital also participated. Lighthouse Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor for this financing round and participated in early-stage investment.

Over the past two years, generative AI technology has rapidly evolved globally. Embodied intelligence, serving as a significant carrier and extension of AI capabilities in the physical world, holds the potential to significantly enhance the cognitive limits of traditional robots, marking a revolutionary milestone. Compared to traditional robots with limited adaptability and high marginal development costs, embodied intelligent general-purpose robots, with their generalized cognitive abilities, flexible actions, and mature perception capabilities, can adapt and handle various tasks. They offer a superior solution for robots to fully adapt to human environments, effectively use human tools, and solve complex human tasks. Concurrently, with the rapid proliferation of core components such as mechanics, motion, and perception in the upstream industry chain, embodied intelligent general-purpose robots are poised to transition from industrial to household use, achieving the decisive conditions for 2C home use. An industry inflection point is imminent.

Following this round of financing, GalaxyBot will continue to focus on enhancing the generalization capabilities of embodied large models and steadily advance the technical and hardware preparations for deploying these models in real-world scenarios, moving steadily toward the next grand development phase. GalaxyBot was officially founded in May 2023, with the mission to bring generalizable embodied large model robots into millions of households.

The core team members boast successful research, productization, and commercialization experience in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, and intelligent hardware and software. Dr. He Wang, a Bachelor in Electronics from Tsinghua University and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the Advanced Computing Research Center at Peking University. He is also the Director of the Peking University-GalaxyBot Joint Laboratory for Embodied Intelligence and the Head of the Embodied Large Model at the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Wang founded and leads the Embodied Perception and Interaction Lab (EPIC Lab) at Peking University, focusing on cutting-edge fields such as multimodal embodied large models, autonomous driving, and 3D visual perception. His research emphasizes perception and interaction issues of embodied robots in complex 3D environments. As a renowned researcher and leading figure in the field of embodied intelligence in China, Dr. Wang has published nearly 40 high-quality papers at top conferences and journals in computer vision, robotics, and artificial intelligence, earning numerous best paper and outstanding paper awards in the fields of computer vision and robotics automation.
