On July 14, Chinese automobile enterprise GAC Global officially announced that its Mexican subsidiary has successfully delivered 400 AION ES electric vehicles to VEMO, a leading new energy mobility company in Mexico. VEMO focuses on the development and construction of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. As a local distributor in Mexico, VEMO previously signed a long-term cooperation agreement with GAC Global. Under the agreement, the two companies plan to continue promoting the sales and service network for new energy vehicles in Mexico over the next three years.

GAC Global has already made significant investments in the Mexican market, such as establishing the local subsidiary and the local parts warehouse in Mexico. These efforts have helped GAC Globlal build a positive reputation in the region. In recent years, as demand for new energy vehicles in Mexico continues to rise, GAC Globlal has introduced several flagship models and gradually built a diverse product line to meet the varied needs of Mexican consumers for new energy mobility. In the future, GAC Globlal plans to introduce more electric vehicles, creating a full product lineup that covers fuel-powered, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles, ranging from entry-level to high-end models.

Currently, the new energy vehicle market in Mexico is experiencing rapid growth, offering more opportunities for Chinese new energy vehicles. In March 2025, Mexico’s light vehicle sales reached 127,360 units, a 1.2% year-on-year increase, with Q1 sales reaching the second-highest level in nearly eight years. The penetration rate of new energy vehicles continues to rise. A significant portion of new energy vehicles sold in Mexico comes from China. In 2024, Mexico became China’s sixth-largest export destination for new energy vehicles. Additionally, Mexico ranked third among countries with the largest year-on-year increase in Chinese car exports in 2024.
