Comprehensive Agence France Presse and Al Jazeera reported on May 21 that parts of Bangladesh and India were hit by rainstorms and floods, trapping millions of people and killing at least 57 people. Bangladesh is experiencing the worst flooding in nearly 20 years, with about 2 million people trapped in the northeast of the country. Musharraf Hussain, the chief executive of sirkhet region, said that floods from northeast India broke down a main embankment of the Barak River, flooded at least 100 villages and killed at least 10 people this week. Floods, landslides and thunderstorms in India this week have killed at least 47 people, according to India's disaster management department.
