On June 7 local time, South African health minister fahra called on the public to remain calm and vigilant against the recent outbreak of measles in Gauteng Province. The South African Ministry of Health said in a statement that four suspected measles cases were found in Gauteng Province in the last two weeks of May. Among them, three cases were found in Botswana and a fourth case was found in serand. These suspected cases have been confirmed by laboratory tests of the National Institute of infectious diseases. At present, the four cases have been isolated and are recovering. The South African Ministry of health also indicated that the health authorities in the affected areas and communities are making efforts to vaccinate the contacts. According to the regulations of the World Health Organization, two or more measles cases in the same region within a month are regarded as measles outbreaks.
