Recently, the State Food and Drug Administration issued a new regulation in the regulations on the implementation of the drug administration law of the people's Republic of China (Revised Draft for comments), which clearly stipulates that third-party platform providers shall not directly participate in drug online sales activities. The third-party platform provider shall establish a drug network sales quality management system, set up a special agency, and allocate pharmaceutical technicians and other relevant professionals, and establish and implement drug quality management, distribution management and other systems. The biggest significance of this new deal is that it further defines the boundaries between self-supporting and third-party platforms, and requires that the current e-commerce platforms either purely engage in self-supporting drug sales business or purely be a third-party platform.
