On July 15 local time, U.S. President Trump posted on a social media platform that after talks with Indonesian President Prabowo, the two sides reached an important agreement. According to the agreement, Indonesia has committed to purchasing USD 15 billion worth of U.S. energy products, USD 4.5 billion worth of U.S. agricultural products, and 50 Boeing aircraft. U.S. ranchers, farmers and fishermen will have full access to the Indonesian market for the first time. In addition, Indonesia will pay a 19% tariff on all goods exported to the United States, while U.S. exports to Indonesia will enjoy duty-free and non-tariff barrier treatment. If any goods are transshipped through Indonesia from a country with higher tariffs, that tariff will be added to the tariff paid by Indonesia.
