On September 8, China’s Ministry of Commerce said it aims to sign the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (FTA) 3.0 Protocol by the end of 2025. Vice Minister Yan Dong (鄢东) said the upgraded deal will be inclusive, modern, comprehensive, and mutually beneficial, boosting regional and global trade certainty. The FTA 3.0 framework will deepen cooperation in nine key areas, including the digital economy, cross-border e-commerce, AI, big data, NEVs, and clean energy, while enhancing green supply chain connectivity. Once effective, the ministry will promote policies and training to help companies benefit and coordinate with ASEAN partners for smooth implementation.
