On Mar 8th, 2019, the annual conference of Uodi Technology (优点科技), it announced the acquisition of the Changhuxi Technology(畅呼吸), which is one of the wholly-owned subsidiary of Smartisan (锤子科技), a company founded by LUO Yonghao (罗永浩), a very famous entrepreneur in China. The detailed information about this deal, such as the transaction size, is still unknown.
Uodi Technology, located in Shenzhen and founded in 2017, is an IoT company focuses on the smart lock and security-related productions. Headquartered in Shenzhen, Uodi has branches in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, while its R&D centers located in Xiamen and Xian. The founder of Uodi, LIU Jiangfeng (刘江峰), was the president of Coolpad and the president of Huawei Honor, and the founder of Dmall, a fresh e-commerce company.
In May 2018, Uodi closed CNY 140 million in series A funding led by Northern Light Venture Capital and followed by Foxconn. In Jan 2019, many media institutions reported that Uodi has closed its series B funding with CNY 700 million from Alibaba. The main productions of Uodi is the smart locks applicated with fingerprint recognition technology. Comparing with the other two manufacturers of smart lock, Yunding and Guojia, the production line of Uodi is more expanded. Besides smart lock, Uodi have its other smart household productions such as smart air purifier, smart toilet lid, smart water purifier and smart gateway. According to Uodi, the acquisition of Changhuxi Technology has many benefits. Uodi could gain the related patents, and also knowledge of Changhuxi’s productions.
Changhuxi Technology is an ecological-chain brand incubated by Smartisan. Located in Chengdu, Changhuxi manufactures air purifier productions. According to the report, LIU Jiangfeng keeps a very good personal relationship with LUO Yonghao, and LIU is an individual shareholder of Smartisan. However, LUO Yonghao didn’t show up in the signing ceremony, but PENG Jinzhou (彭锦洲), the president of Smartisan, signed the contract in March. In the conference of Smartisan U3, the Smartisan and Uodi published 3 types of smart lock, while Liu Jiangfeng showed up in the conference.
