According to Counterpoint Research, excepting Apple (AAPL:NASDAQ) and Huawei, competing companies like vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi all witnessed a double-digit decline in shipments during the second quarter of 2020.
In China, the recent quarter witnessed Huawei grab a stunning 46% of the total market, with dense new product releases since April, including the Huawei flagship P40 series, Honor 30 series and Nova 7. Since the company’s overseas shipments saw a sharp decline after it lost the ability to use GMS in its latest specs, the company has been pushing hard in China’s domestic sales, especially for its 5G smartphone portfolio.
Compared with the first quarter shipments, Huawei occupied 7% more market share, taking away a proportion from vivo and OPPO as the Nova 7 series became one of the best-sellers among middle-to-low-end spec phones, which competes directly with OPPO and vivo’s market position.
