According to foreign media, some investors in ByteDance are seeking a majority stake in TikTok. The proposal is valued at about USD 50 billion, which is 50 times TikTok's expected revenue in 2020.

According to statistical data in 2020, TikTok had 738 million downloads in 2019, 1.5 billion in accumulated downloads since launching, and 800 million active users worldwide. In May 2020, the number of downloads in a single month exceeded that of Youtube.

Interestingly, it is worth noting that Facebook was also valued at around USD 50 billion in 2010, without counting inflation. In December 2010, according to SharesPost, an unlisted stock trading platform, Facebook's average valuation was about USD56 billion. Then, in 2012, Facebook went public with a market value of up to USD 100 billion, when the number of Facebook's global users was close to 1 billion.
