On August 26, Sichuan Highway announced that it will only take few seconds to respond to traffic accidents after deploying Alibaba Cloud's 'City Brain' system, which decreased traffic congestion rate by 15%.

At the beginning of 2019, Sichuan Highway cooperated with Alibaba Cloud to launch the 'smart highway' project. The test started to run on G4201, a highway surrounding Chengdu, which is the most complicated highway in terms of congestion and car volumes. ''Digitalization to solve complicated systematic problems is our current direction. The cooperation has profound meaning to us and to the sector," said the General Manager of Sichuan Highway.

These two parties developed the 'smart eye' system, a video-analyzing platform, which applies more than 30 Artificial intelligent solutions from Alibaba's Damo Academy.

According to the introduction, once the 'smart eye' spots an abnormal condition, the platform will 'contact' drivers to get the location while reporting to staff to solve the problem on the road. The eye can cover 90% of the highway, processing with videos within a minute, much faster than the industry average level of several minutes.

Besides, the 'smart eye' has also connected to Alibaba's Amap to analyze congestion automatically, finding risks and lowering the accident volume by 15%. It also cut the operation workload by 20%.
