GAC Group Cements its Ties with Huawei by Signing a Strategic Agreement

The two parties will comprehensively deepen cooperation in the field of smart cars and leverage their respective resource advantages.

The Guangzhou-based auto veteran and the Chinese tech giant signed an agreement before this back in 2017 to carry out strategic cooperation in the field of intelligent networked electric vehicles, accelerate the promotion of strategic cooperation projects and realize the mass production of multiple systems. 

Under the newly-signed agreement which was announced by GAC via its official wechat channel on September 29, 2020, the cooperation concentrates focus on the development of computing and communications architectures, greeting the development trend of SDV (Software Defined Vehicles). Leveraging the joint research of automobile intelligence, connectivity and electrification, both parties will co-develop digital platforms available for incessant iteration and upgrades, to keep offering users a better experience.

Zeng Qinghong, chairman of GAC Group, said that "GAC Group and Huawei have already established a stable partnership in such areas as digital transition and auto parts. With the faster development of auto electrification and intelligence, stepping up the cooperation in ICV and NEV fields accords with our development goals. Making good use of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's geographic advantages, we will make joint efforts to build an ICV technology industrial chain driven by innovation and high-quality products."
