Semidrive Semiconductor Raises USD 1 Bn in Series B

The large chips manufacturer is accelerating its research process and trying to support the development of the EV industry in China.


On July 26, 2021, Semidrive Semiconductor announced it raises CNY 1 billion in the Series B financing, which was led by CDB Capital and Y Fund and followed by BOC International, Shanghai International Group, Matrix Partners, and CTC Capital. In addition to these well-known financial institutions, CATL, the largest power battery manufacturer of China, has also increased its investment in the company. According to the company, this round of financing will be mainly used for the research of advanced chips to achieve better performance and reduce power consumption.

Founded in 2018, Semidrive Semiconductor mainly focusing on high-performance vehicle specification level chips. Its business scope covers intelligent cockpits, central gateways, automatic driving and highly reliable MCUs. It is the first chip company in China to pass the ISO26262 Functional Safety Certification of Rhine. At present, the company has attracted many well-known automatic manufacturers such as FAW Group and China Automobile Group.

In May 2020, Semidrive Semiconductor released 9 Series chips, including smart cockpit X9 Series, central gateway G9 Series and autopilot V9 Series. In June 2021, the company released Unidrive, a fully open autopilot platform developed based on V9 Series chips, which can provide computing support, hardware and sensor references and sensors for evaluation. In the future, Semidrive Semiconductor plans to make synchronous efforts in four fields including intelligent cockpit, central gateway, autopilot and highly reliable MCU, which deserves continuous attention.
