Xiaomi car has finalized to cooperate with CATL and BYD to provide power battery for its newly cars in 2024.
Xiaomi car has finalized two main suppliers, CATL and BYD respectively, to offer power battery for its cars.
Power battery is one of the core components of autos. CATL and BYD are the two battery companies perennially dominating the top two domestic power battery installed capacity.
It’s indicated that the first Xiaomi car will be delivered in the first half of 2024. Xiaomi car is to be configured into 2 kinds. The standard models are planned to use 400V voltage platform, while the advanced models are planned to use 800V voltage platform. Accordingly, the standard models will be equipped with BYD's lithium iron phosphate blade battery, and the advanced models will be equipped with CATL's newly launched ternary Kirin battery.
“Blade battery” is BYD's main product, with which BYD has entered the battery supply chain of Tesla. Kirin battery is also the third generation of CTP (Cell To Pack) module-free battery pack technology launched by CATL in June this year.
According to official information, the volume utilization rate of Kirin battery exceeds 72%, which can increase the energy density of ternary battery pack to 255Wh/kg, accessible to the 4C charging multiplier and supporting 1000km range.
