Inventchip, a leading Chinese developer of silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors, raised hundreds of millions of CNY from its pre-B round of financing. The funds raised will be primarily used for future capacity expansion, operations and R&D of the firm’s SiC wafer plant in Yiwu, Zhejiang.
Recently, Inventchip Technology Co.Ltd. (Chinese: 瞻芯电子) (hereinafter referred to as Inventchip) announced its completion of a pre-B round financing of hundreds of millions of CNY. This investment was led by SAIC Motor’s strategic direct investment fund and Shangqi Capital (Chinese: 尚颀资本), with Sungrow Power Supply (Chinese: 阳光电源), Huaqiang Venture Capital (Chinese: 华强创投), AISWEI (Chinese: 爱士惟), Ginlong Tech (Chinese: 锦浪科技) and others joining the round, along with existing investor Rockets Capital (Chinese: 星航资本). The funds raised will be primarily used for future capacity expansion, operations and R&D of the firm’s SiC wafer plant in Yiwu, Zhejiang.
Founded in 2017, Inventchip is a Shanghai-based high-tech chip company focusing in the realm of semiconductors. The company is committed to developing SiC power devices, driver and control chips, SiC power module products, and providing customers with one-stop chip solutions centering on SiC power semiconductor applications.
As the first Chinese company to independently develop six-inch SiC MOSFET products, master the process platform and establish an automotive-grade SiC wafer plant, Inventchip will continue to deliver high-quality products with a strong guarantee in production capacity for various clients from different fields. Up until now, cumulative production shipments of SiC MOSFET have exceeded 2 million units.
The two leading fundraisers claimed that SiC is an important future technological pathway for NEVs to adopt. They both believe that the localization of silicon carbide chip replacement is an inevitable trend in the future, giving rise to potential opportunities for Inventchip.
