Indonesian medical equipment distribution company PT Esa Medika Mandiri (ESA Group) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Weigao International Holding Corporation Ptr. Ltd (Wego Group) from China. The joint venture will establish a surgical wire factory with international standards in Indonesia.
President Director of Esa Medika Mandiri, Surya Gunawan Widjaja, stated that ESA Group will form a joint venture with Weigao Group to establish a surgical thread factory in Indonesia that meets international standards. Wego Group is a renowned medical equipment company from China.
In the future, Esa Group and Wego Group will add several new medical device products that will be manufactured in Indonesia. The medical device products resulting from this cooperation will be exported to other ASEAN countries. This cooperation will certainly bring technology transfer to Indonesia.
The total investment required for the factory in this corporation is US$3 million, excluding land and building investment. In the first phase, the two companies invested US$1.5 million, with Esa Group holding 55% and Vigor Group holding 45%.
Vivienne Zhang, General Manager of Vigor Group Singapore, explained that Vigor Group has known Esa Group for 10 years. At that time, the Esa Group was still a distributor or agent for Vigor products. This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the establishment of a joint venture will be a gift for the 10th anniversary of the partnership between Vigor Group and Esa Group.
Currently, Esa Group has three medical equipment factories in Solo, Cikarang, with the newest one located in Cikupa. Esa Group's newest factory is located in Cikupa, Tangerang, and covers an area of 5,000 square meters. "So now Esa Group is not just a distributor for Wego Group. After the MOU is signed, there will be a factory that will produce products from China but manufacture them in Indonesia, which will definitely boost Indonesia's development." Vivienne Zhang revealed.
Esa Medika Mandiri is a medical device distribution company established in 2000. Based on the President's 2016 directive on accelerating the development of the pharmaceutical and medical device industry, the company is committed to participating in and supporting government programs. Since 2021, Esa Group has expanded its business to grow rapidly and become the country's premier medical device manufacturer. To date, Esa Group has three medical device factories. These factories are located in Solo, Central Java, Cikarang Bekasi, and Cikupa. Esa Group's newest factory headquartered in Cikupa, Tanggelang, has an area of 5,000 square meters.
