On July 4th last year, BYD and the government of Bahia, Brazil, announced the establishment of a large production base complex in the city of Camaçari, comprising three factories with a total investment of BRL 3 billion(approximately CNY 4.5 billion). The construction of this production base began in early March this year and is expected to be completed and operational by the end of this year or early next year.

The BYD Brazil production base complex includes three factories: one for producing electric bus and truck chassis, one for manufacturing new energy passenger vehicles, and one for processing lithium iron phosphate battery materials. The new energy passenger vehicle production line will cover both pure electric and plug-in hybrid models, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 units. The lithium iron phosphate battery materials processing plant will leverage local port resources to meet the growing global demand for new energy products. This production base complex is scheduled to start operations in the second half of 2024 and is expected to create over 5,000 jobs locally.

BYD has been relentless in its expansion in the Brazilian market. The flourishing automotive industry in Brazil has drawn the attention of global giants, including BYD, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Toyota, all of which are increasing their production efforts in Brazil to capture a share of this promising market. In recent years, Great Wall Motors has also actively expanded overseas, setting up a production base in Brazil last year and upgrading its automobile production line. Meanwhile, BYD has been strategically positioning itself in the Brazilian market, highlighting the internationalization and rise of China's automotive industry.

With the construction and operation of the BYD Brazil production base complex, BYD will continue to deepen its global presence, leveraging its full industrial chain advantages to actively promote the sustainable and high-quality development of the global new energy industry.
