EqualOcean has learned that Shenzhen Whale Dynamic Co., Ltd. (Whale Dynamic) has recently completed a multi-million yuan Series A financing round. The funds will be used for autonomous driving technology research and development, product iteration, and expansion into overseas markets.

Whale Dynamic is an AI-driven mobility technology company focusing on L4-level autonomous driving products. Its commercialized product portfolio includes multi-sensor fusion hardware design, multi-sensor fusion perception algorithms, passenger vehicle-grade prediction/planning/control algorithms, high-precision integrated positioning, and high-definition mapping toolchains.

The founding team of Whale Dynamic is led by Chang Yufei, who has extensive experience in automation and smart product development. He previously served as a senior product manager at Baidu Apollo, where he led the development of autonomous driving voice and ADAS systems. Other core members come from prestigious institutions and companies like the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huawei, and Baidu, bringing rich expertise in autonomous driving algorithms, hardware system development, and multi-sensor fusion.

In recent years, the demand for low-speed unmanned vehicles has surged with the advancement of urban digitalization and smart city construction. For example, the domestic express delivery volume in China reached 132 billion parcels in 2023, with an average daily volume of approximately 400 million parcels, according to the State Post Bureau. The short-distance transportation from transfer stations or service points to residential areas accounts for 50%-60% of total logistics distribution costs, where unmanned vehicles can offer significant value.

At the same time, the hardware and software for L4-level autonomous driving technology have become increasingly mature, capable of handling tasks such as waiting at traffic lights, obstacle avoidance, and path planning. These capabilities make them suitable for various urban logistics scenarios.

The efficiency tipping point for large-scale application of unmanned vehicles has been reached. According to McKinsey, 80% of parcel deliveries will be automated within the next decade. By 2025, the annual sales of low-speed autonomous vehicles in China are expected to reach 190,000 units, with the market size for logistics and distribution alone surpassing 10 billion yuan.

Since its establishment, Whale Dynamic has focused on complex open urban road environments, starting with low-speed unmanned vehicle services in designated areas. The company is dedicated to developing unmanned vehicles that can truly meet road scene requirements.

Whale Dynamic has launched three major business lines: passenger vehicle business, unmanned vehicle business, and an autonomous driving toolchain platform. This has led to the development of multiple product lines, including L4-level autonomous driving solutions for passenger vehicles, L4-level unmanned delivery vehicles, a human-machine co-driving platform (DTV), high-precision mapping, and an autonomous driving cloud service platform.
