ROX Motor, a pioneering Chinese new energy brand, made a striking debut at the LEAP exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 9, showcasing its all-terrain luxury SUV, the ROX 01. The unveiling marked the official launch of the vehicle in the Saudi market.
Since its founding, ROX Motor has aimed to become "the leading brand in outdoor living", leaving its mark in over 20 countries, including the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. With over 10,000 units delivered and ordered globally, the brand has earned widespread recognition. In the Middle East, it has been lauded by local media as the "Defender Killer".
On the first day of the LEAP exhibition, the ROX 01 secured more than 200 orders, driven by its two core advantages: "all-terrain capability" and "range-extended powertrain". With its introduction to Saudi Arabia, the vehicle's sales also officially began. The ROX 01 is equipped with a versatile range-extended powertrain that combines both electric and fuel capabilities, featuring high-efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motors. Compared to traditional luxury SUVs, the ROX 01 offers 30% more power and 30% lower energy consumption, perfectly meeting local consumers' desire for comfort while aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 energy transition goals.
In addition to its outstanding performance, the ROX 01 stands out for its comfort and practicality. To meet the challenges of the Middle East’s extreme heat, the region-specific model of the ROX 01 has been specially optimized for air conditioning and electric drive system cooling. It is equipped with a high-capacity custom compressor and has passed rigorous heat tests, performing comparably to benchmark models like the Toyota Land Cruiser. The vehicle also comes with an electric sunshade as standard. Another first for the ROX 01 is the inclusion of an Arabic-language voice assistant, designed for easier use by Middle Eastern customers. At the LEAP exhibition, ROX Motor also signed a memorandum of understanding with NetEase Games to integrate mobile gaming with the smart cockpit ecosystem. Furthermore, the ROX 01 features an industry-first tailgate bar, equipped with a 3-second rapid-heating, multi-stage temperature-controlled water system for freshly brewed coffee, allowing users to enjoy an outdoor camping experience on the go.
Saudi Arabia plays a pivotal role in ROX Motor’s Middle East expansion. In December 2024, the company signed a strategic partnership with the influential Laith Al Obaidi Group in Saudi Arabia, laying a solid foundation for further development in the country. With the launch of the LEAP exhibition, ROX Motor also opened its showroom in the An Nasim district on the event’s first day. Meanwhile, the company's flagship store on Khurais Road is set to open soon. These two new locations will provide a comprehensive, high-quality service system, offering Saudi customers an enhanced, one-stop car-buying experience.
As the third-largest information electronics and technology exhibition in the world, LEAP has become a gathering point for leading tech companies and investors globally, earning the moniker "Digital Davos". ROX Motor’s participation marks another significant milestone in its Middle East strategy.
