EqualOcean has learned that Dumpling Xi officially opened its New York Flushing location on February 12, coinciding with the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival.
Recently, diners have shared their experiences at the new Dumpling Xi store in New York on Rednote. The restaurant continues its signature practice of preparing made-to-order dumplings on-site, serves complimentary dumpling broth to each guest, and maintains near-identical standards with domestic operations in interior design, kitchenware, takeout packaging, service procedures, and dining experience - all unified under the brand's signature red color scheme. Observers noted the majority of in-store diners remain predominantly Chinese clientele.
According to consumer-shared menus, the product categories maintain a limited yet refined SKU strategy. Dumpling prices range from 9.99to14.99, with signature items such as shrimp & three-delicacy dumplings priced at 12.99 and zucchini & egg dumplings at 9.99. Additionally, Xi Jiao De in New York has introduced pan-fried dumplings to align with North American preferences for Chinese flavors. Three varieties – curry chicken, celery & fresh pork, and three-delicacy – are available in both boiled and pan-fried preparations, with pan-fried versions requiring an additional $1 surcharge.
As early as October 2024, Dumpling Xi had already initiated site selection and renovation, taking over the premises formerly occupied by a Korean café. The choice of Flushing as the location was strategic, capitalizing on the area's dense concentration of Asian communities that ensured clearer customer targeting. This "newbie-friendly zone" proved a prudent move for its initial market entry.

Dumpling Xi's Second Overseas Store
The brand's inaugural overseas store launched in Barcelona, Spain on January 23 this year, coinciding with Little New Year. Before the launch, the brand created a dedicated Rednote account, "喜家德水饺西班牙", to promote the opening via social media. The Barcelona store features a traditional Chinese-style storefront, with a dumpling mascot prominently displayed at the entrance.

Menu Differences: New York vs. Barcelona
The author found significant differences in the menu offerings between the Barcelona and New York branches.
Barcelona stores do not offer pan-fried dumplings as a category, feature signature braised pork bones in their soup pot selection, and have marinated dishes in their side dishes category. In contrast, New York stores have added pan-fried dumplings as a new category, offer lighter side dishes, provide beverages, focus on fresh vegetable hot pots for their soup selection, and have introduced a dessert category.
Overall pricing between the two countries shows minimal differences, maintaining moderate price points with variations across different categories. For example, steamed rice costs €1.5 per portion in Barcelona stores compared to $1 per portion in New York stores.
