On April 1, Chen Lipeng, CEO of Intel, pointed out at the "Intel Vision Conference" held in Las Vegas that the company will spin off non-core businesses and launch new products such as customized semiconductors to better meet customer needs.

Chen Lipeng, who once served as the CEO of Cadence, a chip software company, was appointed as the CEO of Intel in mid-March this year. He said that Intel urgently needs to replenish its lost engineering talents, improve its financial situation, and adjust its manufacturing processes to meet customer needs.

Chen Lipeng did not disclose whether he is considering splitting the business. Instead, he focused on enhancing the competitiveness of existing products. He stated that Intel lacks chip strength in the data center and AI fields. "Our innovation cannot keep up, and the adjustment speed is too slow to meet customer needs timely." He also said that due to the US federal government's efforts to maintain the United States' leading position in the semiconductor field, the Trump administration is ready to help Intel.

The former CEO, Pat Gelsinger, was ousted by the board of directors for failing to successfully promote product transformation. Especially in the field of AI chips, Intel lags far behind Nvidia. Nvidia was once a follower of Intel, but it has risen rapidly in the past two years due to the AI boom, with its revenue and market value soaring significantly.
