Taobao Tops App Download Charts in 16 Countries

On April 17, according to statistics from third-party data agencies, as of now, Taobao has ranked first on the app download charts in 16 countries and in the top ten in 123 countries, with a large number of overseas consumers flocking to Taobao.

Public data shows that on April 12, the overseas download volume of the Taobao app was 104,000, while by April 15, this figure had reached 326,000, a sharp increase of 222% compared with that on April 12. Among them, on the iOS platform alone, the download volume in North America increased by 483% compared with that on April 12, and that in Europe increased by 439%.

Behind this phenomenon lies the rediscovery of "Made in China" by overseas consumers. For example, in the recent trend of "Uncovering Made in China" that has gone viral on TikTok, countless videos have revealed that many products, which were previously thought to be "European and American local brands", actually come from Chinese factories.

The explosive popularity of Taobao overseas is partly due to the accidental impact of tariff events, but it is also the inevitable result of Chinese e-commerce's years of in-depth development around the world.
