JD.com (京东) said on the evening of December 23 that one of its warehouses in the Paris region was targeted in a theft on December 22 Beijing time, adding that local police have launched an investigation.
The company said the warehouse has since resumed normal operations and that reports of “major losses” disclosed by some parties differ significantly from the actual situation.
Earlier media reports, citing foreign sources, said that a JD.com (京东) warehouse in Seine-Saint-Denis, France, had been broken into, with more than 50,000 consumer electronics devices—including smartphones, computers and tablets—stolen. The reported value of the stolen goods was around €37 million, or approximately RMB 306 million.
JD.com said that in recent years it has accelerated its “Global Network” strategy, building more than 130 overseas warehouses of various types across 23 countries and regions, all operating in compliance with local laws and regulations.
“We will continue to strengthen our super supply chain to provide high-quality logistics services for businesses and users worldwide,” the company said.
