Chinese electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft developer EVT Aerotechnics(亿维特航空)has signed a letter of intent with avionics supplier Aonj Aviation Intelligence for an avionics solution for its ET9 passenger eVTOL, as the company continues work toward type certification.

The agreement was signed on July 22 at the 2026 International Advanced Air Mobility Expo in Shanghai. Under the letter of intent, Aonj will provide design, development, manufacturing and supply support for an avionics package intended for the ET9’s airworthiness-certification programme.

The agreement is an intended procurement arrangement, not a completed aircraft sale or a type certificate. EVT Aerotechnics’ ET9 remains in the certification process.

EVT Aerotechnics was founded in 2022. The company says its core team includes engineers with experience on programmes including the Y-8 transport aircraft, the ARJ21 regional jet and the C919 narrowbody aircraft. Founder Ren Wenguang has previously worked in aircraft design and verification.

The ET9 is a compound-wing eVTOL aircraft using a four-axis, eight-propeller configuration. The prototype completed its first flight in March 2024. Earlier company disclosures described the aircraft as a five-seat design with a maximum take-off weight of about 2.2 tonnes, a maximum range of 240 kilometres and a maximum speed of 240 km/h.

EVT Aerotechnics has positioned electric propulsion as a core in-house capability. The company has said it is developing electric motors, motor-control systems and propellers for eVTOL applications, though the performance and certification status of these systems should remain attributed to the company until independently verified.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China accepted the ET9’s type-certificate application in June 2024, according to publicly available industry information. That marks entry into the airworthiness-review process, rather than certification approval. EVT Aerotechnics has previously said it was targeting completion of certification for a passenger aircraft in 2027.

The company completed a Series A financing round of several hundred million yuan in 2025, led by Jinpu Investment, with Jinggong Technology, Inovance Electric, Shengjing Jiacheng and Ralph Ventures participating. Deep Blue Capital acted as exclusive financial adviser. The proceeds were earmarked for aircraft development, airworthiness certification, electric-propulsion production capability and commercial-scenario validation.

EVT Aerotechnics has also disclosed cooperation with Didi Chuxing on low-altitude operations and has announced intended orders for cargo, emergency-response and passenger aircraft. Such arrangements should be treated as non-binding intentions unless the company discloses firm purchase contracts, deliveries or revenue recognition.

China’s eVTOL sector is moving from prototype flights toward the longer and more demanding work of certification, manufacturing and operating approval. For EVT Aerotechnics, the ET9 avionics agreement is one step in that process; a type certificate, production approval and commercial operating permissions would still be required before regular passenger services could begin.
