Insta360 (影石) will open its first directly operated flagship store in Japan on August 8, 2026, in Tokyo’s Asakusa district. The new location marks another step in the Chinese imaging brand’s expansion from online sales and distributor networks toward direct retail operations in overseas markets.
The store will showcase Insta360’s full product lineup and provide customers with opportunities to test its action cameras, 360-degree cameras and related accessories. It will also serve as a local venue for product demonstrations, creator activities and customer engagement. The opening comes four days before the planned launch of the Insta360 X6 panoramic camera on August 12.
Insta360 is the consumer camera brand of Shenzhen-based Arashi Vision (影石创新). The company has established a strong international presence in action and panoramic imaging, competing with brands such as GoPro through product innovation, creator marketing and online communities.
Japan is an important market for imaging equipment, with a mature consumer base and strong demand from photographers, travelers and content creators. Opening a directly operated store allows Insta360 to present its products in a controlled environment while strengthening local customer service and collecting feedback directly from users.
The move also reflects a broader change in the overseas strategies of Chinese consumer-electronics companies. As competition on e-commerce platforms intensifies, leading brands are investing more heavily in physical stores, local services and direct customer relationships rather than relying only on product exports.
For Insta360, the Tokyo flagship is not simply an additional sales channel. It represents an effort to build a stronger local brand presence and improve the overall customer experience in one of the world’s most established imaging markets.
