Perfect World Games (完美世界游戏) said its self-developed open-world action RPG Neverness to Everness (NTE, 《异环》) had generated more than RMB2 billion in cumulative global gross billings as of Aug. 18, according to the company’s 2026 interim report.

The figure refers to player spending, rather than revenue recognized in Perfect World’s financial statements. NTE began its global public beta in April, targeting more than 180 countries and regions across PC, Android, iOS, Mac, HarmonyOS and PlayStation 5. The game was subsequently made available through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Developed by Hotta Studio, NTE is a supernatural urban open-world RPG that combines exploration, combat and city-life gameplay. Perfect World said official PC and Android channels accounted for nearly 60% of the title’s cumulative global gross billings as of Aug. 18.

Perfect World reported first-half revenue of RMB2.751 billion. The company’s results also reflected the accounting and marketing costs associated with the launch of a major new title, underscoring the distinction between early gross billings and near-term reported profit.

NTE’s performance provides a prominent example of a Chinese-developed title pursuing a synchronized, multi-platform global launch. Its early billings demonstrate strong initial demand across international markets, but the more important test will be whether spending, user retention and content updates can sustain the title beyond its launch period.

For Chinese game developers, the release highlights the increasing importance of global publishing capabilities, including localized operations, multi-platform distribution and long-term community management. It also shows that overseas expansion can contribute meaningfully to a new title’s commercial potential, while requiring substantial upfront investment in development and marketing.
