Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL, 宁德时代) and Seres Group (赛力斯集团) signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement in Chongqing on October 10, covering battery production, charging and battery services, and overseas market development. The companies said they would jointly pursue opportunities in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia, but did not disclose specific overseas projects or a rollout schedule.

The agreement calls for the partners to accelerate Phase II of their “plant-in-plant” battery-pack facility at Seres’ super factory. The expansion is planned to add annual capacity of 10–12 GWh, taking the combined capacity of the first two phases above 20 GWh once completed. CATL began operating two battery-pack production lines at the Seres factory in June 2025. The new agreement also covers cooperation on supercharging networks and battery services across the vehicle lifecycle.

AITO, Seres’ premium vehicle brand developed with Huawei, has used CATL batteries across its lineup since its launch. CATL said cumulative AITO deliveries have exceeded 1.2 million vehicles and that the brand will continue using its batteries over the long term. The agreement reinforces an existing supply relationship while broadening cooperation into infrastructure and overseas market development.

The deal’s immediate manufacturing expansion is in Chongqing, not overseas. The companies have not announced foreign production facilities, named export models or detailed how they will divide sales and service responsibilities in the target regions. For now, the overseas component is a joint market-development plan.

For CATL and Seres, the agreement links battery supply with charging services and a stated ambition to expand abroad. It also reflects a broader effort by Chinese automakers and suppliers to coordinate their overseas expansion. Whether this partnership develops into an integrated offering for foreign markets will depend on the projects, channels and local arrangements the companies establish next.
