Shenzhen Senior Technology Material(星源材质)said on November 5 that its Swedish subsidiary had signed a second nomination agreement with a Volkswagen Group(大众集团)battery subsidiary. The agreement forecasts supply of approximately 1.558 billion square metres of coated lithium-ion battery separator from 2027 to 2034.

Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co., Ltd.

The agreement was signed by Senior Material (Europe) AB(欧洲星源), the Chinese company’s wholly owned subsidiary. It covers wet-process coated separator, a material used in lithium-ion batteries to separate the electrodes while allowing ions to pass between them.

The forecast covers an eight-year period. Actual purchases will be determined by the customer’s demand and subsequent purchase orders. Senior did not disclose a contract value.

The companies previously signed a nomination agreement in November 2024 covering an estimated 2.09 billion square metres for 2025–2032. Together, the two agreements represent approximately 3.6 billion square metres in forecast supply if fully performed.

For Senior, the second agreement extends its relationship with the customer and provides a basis for longer-term production planning in Europe. The pace of deliveries will depend on the customer’s battery production plans and orders.
