On March 26, Huawei released the P30 series model in Paris, France about a year after releasing the P20 series at the same venue.

The launch was not a surprise as most of the functions of P30 were already leaked. However, there was no Porsche version at this press conference, with the P20 and Mate20 series starting with simultaneous Porsche versions, Mate RS Porsche and Mate 20 RS Porsche respectively.

Huawei P series has the most advanced mobile phone camera in the world. P30 just like its predecessors is all about taking pictures as well and claims to catch up with professional photography equipment.

While the optical zoom is the big new camera feature, there are four total cameras on the back of the P30 Pro. A 40MP main camera, a 20MP wide angle, the 8MP 5X telephoto, and a Time of Flight depth-sensing camera. The main 40MP camera uses a 1/1.7 inch-type sensor that, when measured diagonally, would make it 32% larger than the 1/2.55 inch-type sensors in the Galaxy S10 or iPhone X.

From a design point of view, the P30 series is a nice evolution of last year's phones. The glass back comes in striking colors and the notch is smaller than ever. Internally, Huawei's phones are running the latest available tech to ensure they're as fast and fluid as can be.

According to the rating of the well-known evaluation agency DxOMark, the P30 Pro has a comprehensive score of 112 points for camera/camera, making it the highest-scoring smartphone.

In addition to taking pictures, battery life is also a highlight of the P30 series, of which P30 Pro power is up to 4200mAh. In addition, the series also supports super-fast charging and wireless reverse charging.

However, these upgrades are difficult for consumers to have a clear perception. The intuitive change of this generation is that the screen becomes bigger, which is also a major trend in current mobile phones. Compared to the previous generation, the P30 series is three or four inches larger. The P30 uses a 6.1-inch OLED screen and the P30 Pro uses a 6.47-inch OLED curved screen.

Huawei also released a new smartwatch. CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group said that although Huawei is a latecomer in the field of smartwatches, but is now ranked third in the world.

How does the P30 Pro compare to other flagships?

The P30 Pro was designed by Huawei to showcase its best and most powerful technologies, and on its own, it's really damn impressive. But just how does it compare to other flagships?

The Galaxy S10+ will be the default choice for many purely based on availability. Samsung has once again done a fantastic job with the design. The performance is right up there with the best that Android has to offer, but what sets the S10+ apart is the Dynamic AMOLED display. It is without a doubt the best screen you'll find on any phone today.

P30, on the other hand, is a phone known for its camera. Priced at USD 900 and P30 pro at USD 1100 it will have to satisfy the needs of its fans. The P30 Pro does make a compelling case for the best camera phone of 2019.

As for other features, both phones offer wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging. Huawei was the one to kickstart the reverse wireless charging trend last year, and Samsung followed suit with the S10+. Both also have large batteries, with the P30 Pro featuring a 4200mAh unit and the S10+ a 4100mAh battery.

Huawei's continued troubles with the U.S. government effectively eliminates one of the world's largest markets for the P30 Pro, and although the Chinese manufacturer is able to sell 200 million phones a year even without the U.S. market, it's a shame the P30 Pro won't be available in the country.

For customers in the U.S., the Galaxy S10+ is the default choice. Samsung sells its flagship with every major carrier, and although the phone isn't quite as exciting as the P30 Pro, it is every bit a flagship. Whether it's worth a USD 1000 is something you have to decide for yourself.
