In China’s photovoltaic industry, companies are generating billions of dollars and raising the stakes with large subsidies. Particularly in the production of solar cells and modules, The county has become one of the mainstream players in the global photovoltaic industry. From the seventh Five-Year Plan, China has supported the PV development for decades. According to Reuters, China is expected to add up to 65 GigaWatts (GW) of solar power capacity in 2021 and bring the total solar installations beyond 300 GW by the end of the year.
On Wednesday, 31 solar companies are expected to achieve year-on-year growth in net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies, accounting for 76%. Compared to upstream manufacturers who secured positive gain during the COVID-19 pandemic, many photovoltaic companies have encountered state restriction policy in controlling energy power and challenges in silicon supply. Downstream battery and module manufacturers have become the hardest-hit areas of losses.
