Recent reports indicate that TikTok is planning to introduce a new photo-sharing platform, TikTok Notes, which may compete directly with Instagram. Some TikTok users have reported receiving pop-up notifications about the new product while using the app, giving them the option to share existing photo posts on the platform. Prior to this announcement, tech experts had discovered references to a photo-sharing app called TikTok Photos within the code of TikTok's APK files, leading to speculation that the company may have renamed the product as TikTok Notes. A TikTok spokesperson stated that the company is exploring ways to allow users to create and share content through photos and text in dedicated spaces, although the exact release date for the new app has not been disclosed.

In recent times, the competition between TikTok and Meta (the parent company of Facebook) appears to be escalating. Previously, Meta's Facebook announced optimizations to its video player, defaulting to vertical mode, directly challenging TikTok.
