Cenergi SEA is set to enhance its industry presence at the 6th International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) 2024, aiming to promote sustainable energy solutions through collaboration, networking, and policy advocacy. The company seeks to solidify its role in Southeast Asia's transition to a sustainable energy future by showcasing its 25 new renewable energy projects, which are at various stages of development.

ESG

These projects include 16 biogas power plants, a large-scale solar farm, rooftop solar installations, biomass pellet plants, small hydro power plants, and a BioCNG plant. Cenergi also engages in trading renewable energy certificates (RECs) and carbon credits, with plans to market technology-based carbon credits soon.

Commitment to Innovation

Cenergi employs innovative technologies to advance its sustainable energy initiatives. Key highlights include:

Biogas Technology: As Malaysia’s largest biogas power plant developer, Cenergi’s Jerantut facility is the country’s largest grid-connected biogas plant, utilizing anaerobic digestion to convert agricultural waste and palm oil mill effluent into biogas for electricity generation.

Solar PV Systems: The company is actively developing solar PV systems, utilizing high-efficiency panels and smart inverters to maximize output and reliability.

Biomass Pellets: Cenergi converts empty fruit bunches from palm oil production into environmentally friendly pellets, providing a renewable alternative to fossil fuels.

BioCNG: The company is developing its first BioCNG project in Sabah, converting biogas into compressed biomethane, which can replace natural gas.

Small Hydro: Investments in small hydro projects using run-of-river technology contribute to the National Energy Transition Roadmap's renewable energy targets.

Environmental and Social Impact

Cenergi’s projects have significantly benefited the environment and local communities. Enclosed anaerobic systems in biogas projects have reduced methane emissions and improved water quality, while also stimulating local economies through job creation and revenue generation from electricity and carbon credits.

Addressing Challenges

Cenergi identifies several challenges to the wider adoption of renewable energy, including high initial costs, infrastructure issues, and regulatory barriers. Effective policies like feed-in tariffs and power purchase agreements have been successful in promoting renewable energy. Continued investment in solar and battery technologies is essential for improving efficiency and reducing costs.

Cenergi SEA Berhad is dedicated to driving sustainable energy solutions through innovative technology and strategic partnerships, aiming for a cleaner, greener future in Southeast Asia.
