On February 12, in the initial lawsuit filed by the Iowa public employee retirement system and other retirement associations, Credit Suisse Group entities among the six defendants agreed to pay $81 million, the first company to agree to a settlement. The plaintiffs accused Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs Group, JPMorgan Chase and the units of three other banks of conspiring to put the stock lending market in the "Stone Age" by boycotting start-up platforms such as AQS or data explorers since 2009. The plaintiffs accused the banks of doing so in order to charge investors too much. Credit Suisse said in a statement that it believed the plaintiff's claim had no legal basis, but said "we are glad to resolve this lawsuit".
