Huawei published its new flagship type, P30 and P30 Pro on Mar 26, 2019. The P series of Huawei has an advanced photography technology with 10 times hybrid optical zoom and 50 times digital zoom.YU Chengdong (余承东), the CEO of Huawei’s consumer business, said that the P30 and P30 Pro would change the rules of photography totally.
However, although the P30/P30 Pro attracted lots of fans with its beautiful appearance and strong hard ware performance, the price is way much higher than other Chinese brands. For example, Xiaomi, which is famous for its high cost-performance ratio. After the conference of Huawei, Xioami posted a tweets which said that “Is this really necessary?”, and even uploaded a picture that shows the price of P30 series.
According to Huawei, the prices of P30 series ranges from EUR 799 to EUR 1249, while the Xiaomi 9, the flagship model of Xiaomi, has a much cheaper price which is EUR 499. Afterwards, Xiaomi posted a picture on its official tweeter account that shows the difference in prices of Xiaomi and Huawei. In addition, Xiaomi said that “we provide the excellent products with a reasonable price. Do you think a shipment smartphone should cost you a fortune?” Xiaomi’s picture shows that the Xiaomi 9 has a larger screen, thinner shape and offers the wireless charging function.
With the 6.39” Samsung AMOLED screen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 CPU, and a 3300mAH battery, Xiaomi did a good job in its cost-performance again. However, Huawei, with the cooperation with Leica, has a better performance on its photography function. According to Xiaomi’s picture, Xiaomi 9 has the world’s No.1 DxMark Video Score:99. However, Huawei P30 Pro has the highest comprehensive DxMark score:112, which broke the record made by Huawei P20 Pro, 109.
The relationship between Xiaomi and Huawei become increasingly interesting. LEI Jun (雷军), the CEO and founder of Xiaomi, used to show his respect to REN Zhengfei (任正非), the founder of Huawei many times. LU Weibing (卢伟冰), the president of Redmi, also posted picture on his weibo in the morning. LU showed a great respect to REN Zhengfei, and he replied that “the world need both Xiaomi and Huawei. Huawei serves a small number of people, while Xiaomi serves the majority of people.” According to LU, Xiaomi wants to serve 5 billion people in the world, and would keep on pursuing the cost-performance ratio. LU’s idea was disagreed by lots of people, since Huawei is the largest telecom company in the world, and its hard to say that “Huawei serves a small number of people”.
During the 2018, the revenue of Huawei exceeded RMB 700 billion, and offered more than 180 thousand jobs. Plus, Huawei invested more than RMB 100 billion on its research and development. It’s hard to say that Huawei serves only a small number of people.
