Recently, NIO (Chinese: 蔚来) announced the completion and operation of its first battery-swapping station in Zusmarshausen, Germany, making it the first automobile company to establish a battery-swap station in the country.

Partnered with Sortimo, one of Europe’s largest and most modern charging park operators, NIO built this station located right next to the A8 motorway between Munich and Stuttgart.

The second-generation power stations NIO installed in Germany can provide up to 312 power swaps a day, which means German users could replace their batteries in about 4.6 minutes on average. In addition, during the power swap process, the monitoring system in the station will automatically check the power batteries, motors and electronic control systems to ensure that the vehicle is in optimal condition.

According to NIO's plan, the company will build 4,000 battery swap stations across the globe by 2025. Now the first power station in Germany has been completed and put into operation, which will set an example for the subsequent construction and expansion in Europe and other regions. Meanwhile, NIO, as the first automobile enterprise to establish battery swap services in Germany, will serve as a pioneer among Chinese automobile enterprises and improve competitiveness and brand awareness of Chinese companies in the European market.
