China and Brazil Strengthen Bilateral Relations with Expanded Trade Talks. As the BRICS alliance seeks further de-dollarization and expansion in 2024, member countries are also committed to expanding relations with each other.
Brazil
According to EqualOcean, Brazilian Vice President Alckmin visited China from June 4th to 8th. China will host Alckmin at the 7th Plenary Session of the Sino-Brazilian High-level Partnership and Cooperation Commission, where the two countries will enhance international cooperation in six areas: energy, currency, finance, trade, food security, and critical infrastructure security. China and Brazil aim to expand trade negotiations and strengthen cooperation.
During his visit to China, the Brazilian Vice President will attend a business forum organized by the Ministry of Industry, Development, Trade, and Services. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the China Council for the Promotion of International Investment will also attend the event and hold discussions with the Brazilian representatives.
On the first day of his visit, Vice President Alckmin held talks with Zhang Zhigang(张智刚), Chairman of State Grid Corporation of China(中国国家电网), in Beijing. The two sides reached consensus on deepening cooperation in grid infrastructure construction and clean energy, promoting the development of energy and power cooperation between Brazil and China. State Grid Corporation of China actively operates projects in Brazil and fulfills social responsibilities, contributing to Brazil's green and low-carbon transformation.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and China. The China-Brazil relationship is a successful example of global trade, investment cooperation, and partnership development. The Brazilian government vigorously promotes the development of new energy such as wind and solar energy, promotes clean and low-carbon energy transformation, and actively participates in addressing climate change. Brazil has abundant hydropower, wind power, and solar energy resources, with enormous development potential and vast market space.
State Grid Corporation of China will fully leverage its talent, technology, and management advantages to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Brazil in grid infrastructure construction, clean energy development and utilization, and climate change response, and help Brazil achieve green and low-carbon development. Brazil will continue to support energy and power cooperation between China and Brazil, creating a favorable environment for State Grid Corporation of China's development in Brazil.
Brazil and China are strong supporters of the BRICS alliance's de-dollarization mission and of inviting new members to join. The meeting will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two countries. As two important members of the BRICS alliance, they can achieve significant results in the struggle to end the dominance of the USD. Last year, Brazil's exports reached USD 340 billion, with 30% sold to China, demonstrating that China is Brazil's largest export destination.
In the future, China and Brazil will further consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen strategic communication, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and promote the sustained deepening of China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership.
