EqualOcean has learned that on October 30, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) officially announced plans to open an office in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, in 2025. This strategic move will further strengthen HKEX’s business presence in the Middle East, promote financial cooperation between China and the Gulf region, and create new opportunities for global clients and issuers.
The new office, located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s economic and financial hub, aims to deepen connections with investors and businesses in the Middle East, provide more convenient financial services, help clients access the diverse financial products offered by HKEX, and seize opportunities arising from Asia’s economic growth. HKEX stated that this initiative will not only enhance its influence in the Middle Eastern market but also strengthen its interactions with Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East region.
Charles Li(陈翊庭), CEO of HKEX Group, stated that the Riyadh office will create synergies with HKEX’s existing offices in Beijing, London, New York, Shanghai, and Singapore, jointly expanding its global business network. Through collaboration with offices around the world, HKEX will further attract Middle Eastern clients to Hong Kong, one of Asia’s most international, diverse, and liquid capital markets.
This move by HKEX marks a strategic positioning in its global market expansion and a deep recognition of the growth potential of the Middle East region. With the continuous economic development of Saudi Arabia and the entire Middle East, HKEX will drive greater linkage between the region and global markets through the new Riyadh office, further broadening international cooperation channels in the capital markets. Through these initiatives, HKEX will play a more significant role in facilitating global capital flows, enhancing the competitiveness of the Middle Eastern market, and promoting economic cooperation between China and the Middle East.
