Gentari Sdn Bhd, through its subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, and MasterCard have announced a partnership to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the Asia Pacific region. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on December 17, 2024 to explore opportunities for advertising, marketing and digital payment solutions for EV charging.
The partnership aims to implement secure and enhanced digital payment solutions to promote inclusive EV adoption in public transportation and support carbon reduction efforts.Gentari is a clean energy solutions provider that operates a network of EV charging stations in Malaysia, Thailand and India.
MasterCard will leverage its digital payments capabilities and expertise to provide convenient payment solutions for the mobile mobility sector. The company has previously worked on urban mobility solutions globally, including a universal payment terminal solution for electric vehicle charging in Europe.
The partnership supports the Malaysian government's Low Carbon Transportation Blueprint 2021-2030 and National Energy Transformation Roadmap. These initiatives are part of the country's sustainable development agenda, which includes the development of electric vehicles and aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
