Maxis, UTAR Forge Innovative Partnership to Develop 5G Solutions in Healthcare & Education

Maxis, Malaysia's leading integrated telecommunications company, and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) are collaborating to develop 5G solutions that leverage Maxis' network infrastructure and technical capabilities, as well as UTAR's expertise as a renowned higher education institution.

The two organizations will explore commercially viable opportunities to deploy and leverage 5G solutions, with a focus on innovation in healthcare and education, Maxis said in a statement. Additionally, the partnership may expand to develop solutions in areas such as cybersecurity, green technology and smart campus initiatives that leverage Lucent's robust network infrastructure.

In healthcare, potential 5G-enabled solutions include telesurgery, advanced telemedicine, teleconsultations and real-time health monitoring. In education, 5G solutions are designed to enhance the learning experience through immersive environments and interactive content delivery. For example, 5G-powered Augmented Reality (AR) applications enable remote access to lectures while enriching the experience with multimedia content integrated into real-world environments.

The partnership builds on previous initiatives by Maxis Business, the B2B arm of Maxis, to drive wider adoption of 5G and 5G-Advanced solutions among Malaysian enterprises.
