In 2024, sales of projectors on AliExpress, a Chinese cross-border e-commerce platform, increased by over 100% year-on-year, with growth exceeding 200% in European and American countries. Mid-to-high-end products such as ultra-short focus, 4K HD, and smart voice-controlled projectors accounted for nearly half of the sales. Notably, according to Runto Research, in just half a year, Magcubic, a Shenzhen-based brand, soared from obscurity to a top 10 global shipper, achieving sales of 20,000 units in a single day and nearly USD 10 million (CNY 73 million) in monthly revenue.
Magcubic's success has reportedly attracted more high-end projector brands to AliExpress, with several well-known projector brands already in negotiations for official entry.
According to Statista, the global home projector market size reached USD 24.6 billion (CNY 178.8 billion) in 2024, representing a 217% growth compared to 2020, and the price per customer exceeded USD 500 (CNY 3634), which is 3.2 times that of the Southeast Asian market. This growth is linked to the continued deepening of the "stay-at-home economy" post-pandemic, as American consumers' weekly home movie-watching time has increased from 7.2 hours in 2019 to 11.5 hours in 2024.
