On March 20, Uruguayan cross-border payment platform dLocal announced a strategic partnership with Chinese global e-commerce platform Temu. This collaboration aims to provide millions of customers in 14 emerging markets across Africa, Asia, and Latin America with seamless and secure payment options tailored to local preferences.

dLocal is a leader in promoting local payments in emerging markets, connecting global businesses with billions of consumers in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.

As the gaming and digital commerce sectors in these regions experience rapid growth, seamless payment solutions are crucial for driving expansion. According to Grand View Research, the Latin American gaming market is projected to reach USD 16.1 billion (CNY 116.7 billion) by 2030, while Africa's gaming industry generated USD 1.8 billion in revenue in 2024, with mobile games accounting for 90% of that total.

In 2024, Temu achieved a global download count of 550 million, topping the mobile app download charts in over 40 countries. A recent report by Bernstein Research indicates that Temu has surpassed Amazon to become the e-commerce platform with the highest number of monthly active users worldwide.

Starting in December 2024, Temu launched local warehousing services in Europe, with Germany, France, and the Netherlands among major markets to be included in its local warehouse distribution network. The company plans to process 80% of its European orders through local warehouses in the future.
