OTT Airlines
On December 28, 2020, a new subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, OTT Airlines, launched its first ARJ21 flight and its load factor reaches 90. OTT is responsible for providing regional services and bases at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. The new airline company plans to use MU as its IATA designator.
Founded in 2019, the company has received three Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) ARJ21-700 aircraft and 32 more ARJ21 aircraft will be delivered to it by 2024. The ARJ21 aircraft has a capacity of up to 90 passengers with a range of up to 3,700 kilometers. By 2022, the airline is also planning to include its own COMAC C919 aircraft in its fleet, with a capacity of 168 passengers with a range of up to 5,555 kilometers. According to China Eastern Airlines, OTT plans to build an all-China-manufactured fleet and promote the development of China's domestic commercial aviation industry.
