TikTok CEO  Shou Zi Chew: Tens of Thousands of Reviewers Have Been Employed to Address Offensive Content.

On April 20th, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew was interviewed by Chris Anderson, the head of TED, during which he revealed that TikTok has established a team of tens of thousands of people to deal with offensive content on the platform. According to the Paper.cn, this team is located in Ireland and consists of tens of thousands of employees and machines.

Chew emphasized that Facebook and Instagram under Meta and Google's YouTube are facing the same problems, but TikTok will take this issue seriously. This is seen as a response to accusations of "negatively impacting American youth."

Chew also stated that TikTok's goal is not to maximize users' time spent on the platform, and if the time spent is too long, the platform will proactively remind users to leave.

In the interview, Chew also mentioned the data secruity that the public is concerned about. He said that the "Texas Project," storing data for U.S. users on domestic soil, is progressing smoothly. TikTok's data is currently stored in Oracle Cloud and legacy data in Singapore and Virginia will be deleted later this year.

Earlier, the U.S. Congress held a hearing on TikTok's data security issues, and Montana subsequently passed a bill banning TikTok's new downloads.
