Egyptian President Sisi Visits Beijing at Invitation

On the morning of May 28, 2024, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi arrived in Beijing to commence his state visit to China, and to attend the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. Four Arab state leaders accepted the invitation to visit Beijing, including King Hamad of Bahrain, President Sisi of Egypt, President Saied of Tunisia, and President Mohammed of the UAE, with their state visits spanning.

On May 29, 2024, the 19th Senior Officials' Meeting and the 8th Senior Officials' Strategic Political Dialogue of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum were held in Beijing. The meeting reviewed the remarkable achievements of the forum over the past 20 years and exchanged views on international and regional issues of common interest. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the preparations for the upcoming ministerial meeting, reviewing the meeting agenda and related outcome documents. Both Chinese and Arab parties expressed their intentions to further implement the fruitful outcomes of the inaugural China-Arab Summit in 2022 (including a mutual agreement to build a China-Arab community of shared future in the new era, marking a new phase of comprehensive and deeper development in China-Arab relations), to deepen cooperation across various fields, promote the construction and development of the forum, and contribute to the building of the China-Arab community of shared future.

Specifically regarding Egypt, the year 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Egypt. Significant developments and leaps have been made in various fields of cooperation between the two nations. The leaders of both nations jointly declared this year as the "China-Egypt Partnership Year" and are taking this opportunity to hold a series of diplomatic, economic, trade, investment, and cultural events. These events aim to facilitate high-level exchanges between the two governments, enhance bilateral relations, serve the common interests of both nations, and promote the elevation of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights. Both leaders emphasized their commitment to aligning China's Belt and Road Initiative with Egypt's 2030 Vision for Sustainable Development and to jointly ensure the safety and smooth progression of relevant cooperative projects between the two countries.
