BYD began selling electric cars in Kenya through a distributor. The distributor expects government incentives for green products to boost sales. Brit chege, general manager of meta electric, said the Kenya subsidiary of meta group Africa released two BYD T3 cars in Nairobi on Thursday and expects to import as many as 100 by the end of the year. The first vehicles are leased by Neo Kenya Mpya Ltd., a public transport company, which owns 180 buses and transports 45000 commuters a day. It plans to make the proportion of electric vehicles in the fleet reach 10% within three years.
