On December 15, the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced the award of six contracts for the procurement of 660 new electric buses, comprising 360 single-deck and 300 double-deck units. Chinese enterprises (中国企业) are the primary winners of this tender, with BYD (比亚迪), Yutong (宇通), and consortia partnered with CRRC (中国中车) and Zhongtong Bus (中通客车) successfully securing bids. According to the plan, these new buses will be progressively deployed for passenger service starting from late 2026 to replace existing diesel buses reaching the end of their statutory lifespan.
