Alibaba's Indonesian eCommerce investment merges with Gojek
Gojek, a car-hailing and mobile payment giant in Southeast Asia, has announced that it will merge with Tokopedia, an Indonesian e-commerce company. The merged company will form Indonesia's largest internet company covering businesses such as online car brokerage, financial technology, online shopping, and express delivery. The two companies said they would form a holding company called Goto through a deal backed by shareholders, including Google and Alibaba Group Holdings. Alibaba Group participated in two funding rounds of Tokopedia in 2017 and 2018 (USD 1.1B funding size).
