The National Health Commission and the representative office of the World Health Organization in China today (26) jointly released the "report on the health hazards of smoking in China 2020", which shows that the number of smokers in China exceeds 300 million, and the smoking rate of people aged 15 and above is 26.6%, of which the smoking rate of men is as high as 50.5%. Tobacco kills more than one million people every year in China. If effective action is not taken, it is expected to increase to 2 million people per year by 2030 and 3 million people per year by 2050. The report lists the latest global research evidence on the relationship between smoking and second-hand smoke exposure and four major chronic diseases, namely chronic respiratory disease, malignant tumor, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. At the same time, it points out that there is sufficient evidence that e-cigarettes are unsafe and harmful to health.
